Facebook kini berstatus perusahaan publik, karena baru saja memperdagangkan sahamnya di bursa saham Nasdaq pada Jumat (18/5/2012) waktu setempat.Situs jejaring sosial terbesar ini telah menjual 421.200.000 saham dalam penawaran perdana kepada publik (IPO) dengan harga 38 dollar AS per lembar saham. Dengan ini, maka Facebook menggalang dana IPO sebesar 16 miliar dollar AS.
Angka sebesar itu membawa Facebook sebagai perusahaan internet dengan nilai IPO tertinggi di AS, bahkan jauh mengalahkan Google ketika perusahaan mesin pencari itu IPO.
